Super Feedback ("we", "our", or "us") is an open-source visual feedback tool that allows users to add comments and annotations directly on websites. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our browser extension and web application.

Information We Collect

When you use Super Feedback, we collect the following information:

Comment Data

  • Author Name: The name you provide when leaving comments (required)
  • Author Email: Your email address (optional, for identification purposes)
  • Comment Content: The text of your feedback comments
  • Page URLs: The specific pages where you leave comments
  • Element Positions: CSS selectors and coordinates to position comments on page elements
  • Screenshots: Optional cropped screenshots of elements for visual context

Project Data

  • Project names and descriptions created by administrators
  • Website URLs associated with projects
  • Access codes for user and admin authentication

Technical Data

  • Viewport dimensions at the time of commenting (for responsive positioning)
  • Scroll position data (for accurate comment placement)

Why We Need Browser Permissions

The Super Feedback extension requests the following permissions:

  • Access to all websites (<all_urls>): The extension needs to inject its feedback overlay on any website you are reviewing. Since users may review any website—their own projects, client sites, or staging environments—we require broad URL access. The extension only activates when you explicitly connect with a project access code.
  • Active Tab: To interact with the current tab and inject the commenting interface.
  • Storage: To save your connection state and preferences locally in your browser.
  • Side Panel: To display the comments sidebar interface.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Display and position feedback comments on the correct elements
  • Associate comments with the appropriate projects and pages
  • Show comment author attribution
  • Enable project administrators to manage and respond to feedback

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Convex, a real-time backend platform. Data is stored in the cloud and synchronized in real-time between all users with access to a project.

Local browser storage is used only to maintain your connection state and preferences within your browser.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your feedback data is only visible to:

  • Other users who have the same project access code
  • Project administrators who have the admin code

Data Retention

Comments and project data are retained until the project administrator deletes them. You can request deletion of your comments by contacting the project administrator or by reaching out to us directly.

Open Source

Super Feedback is open-source software. You can review our code to verify our privacy practices and understand exactly how your data is handled. Visit our GitHub repository to inspect the source code.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Disconnect from projects at any time via the extension
